FAQ's
What makes the ControlByNet Surveillance System different
from others on the market?
Here are some of the many examples of the difference in our
system versus others:
-
Our
system is digital from start to finish, there is no
conversion from analog at any time
-
Access
to our system only requires a browser and the web
address, no other software
-
Since
we store in .avi format, files can be easily viewed at
multiple locations and formats (speed, size, etc.)
-
We
only record motion-detected events.
-
With
multiple access levels, the system can also provide
viewer-only options if desired (schools, day care, etc.)
-
Requirements - Self-contained database and web server so
no need for a big, powerful server...runs
on any Windows platform, even Windows XP Home!
What are the advantages
of digital over a cctv-based system?
How many of you have ever taken
a VHS tape and recorded it on your PC or to a DVD? The
recording is 'officially' in digital format, but still looks
like the same old VCR tape on the TV. Anyone record a
cassette to CD?...still has those creaks in the audio even
though it's now digital...
Why would you do the same with your surveillance system?

Don't be
confused with dvr systems that claim digital video. They are
still just taking an old analog image and storing it on a
hard drive.

How long is data stored before being deleted from
the system? Can it be removed for storage?
By default, archives are deleted after 2 weeks. You have the
option to modify this setting based on your server
capabilities and storage. Data can also easily be offloaded
to another location for permanent storage allowing the user
to use an inexpensive server.
How do I determine if a surveillance system is
fully digital?
A security/surveillance is not fully digital unless
all 4 major components are also digital:
-
Camera
-
Network Medium
-
Recording Device
-
Display Device
